Malam Nuhu Bayero Dan-lyan Zazzau receives a letter from Mr. F. D. Hibbert, Plateau Provincial Education Officer, to start a Senior Primary School at Pankshin. He says yes without hesitation.
The school opens with a Remove Class of 36 students drawn from all over the Plateau. Malam Nuhu serves as its first Headmaster.
The school outgrows Pankshin. After consultation, Kuru is chosen as the new site β selected personally by Malam Nuhu, Mr. Flockhart, and the late Chief of Jos, Rwang Pam.
Buildings completed by Taylor Woodrow. Staff and students arrive by lorries between 4 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon β Kuru becomes home. The school achieves 100% success in its first Middle IV examinations.
Mr. T. Roberts is appointed as the first Principal. The school becomes Government Secondary School Kuru β one of the finest secondary schools in the country.
Malam Nuhu Bayero β by then Pro-Chancellor of Lagos University β delivers the founding account at the School's Speech Day and Prize Giving Ceremony, preserving this history for all generations.
One other thing that the School ought to continue being proud of is the fact that it was the first School in the North to admit students of various ethnic groups and of different religions and to have lived in complete peace, love and harmony with one another.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved alumnus and former KOSA treasurer, Engr. Bulus Dalyop. He served the association with distinction for over two decades and leaves behind a legacy of integrity and community service.
